There’s a lot of information posted on blogs or websites by people who claim to understand how Google works – but a lot of it is confusing, ambiguous, or just flat-out wrong. For example, one blog provided the following advice:

Unethical and dishonest SEO techniques will result in one of two things happening:

* Your website will actually lose rankings and drop like a brick in the Ohio River, or

* Your website will be banned from search engines.

And:

I won’t mention any of the bad techniques here, but if they have to do with creating extra pages in your website; stuffing your site with links, hidden links or hidden keywords, they you are going down the wrong path.

Let’s examine why I consider these statements to constitute poor advice (to say the least).

First, the statements are too ambiguous. The author fails to give concrete examples of what he considers “unethical and dishonest SEO techniques”; he does give a few examples in the second quote above, but they’re so vague as to be useless to anyone actually seeking to understand how to do well in Google.

Second, the second quote above is contradictory – he says he “won’t mention any of the bad techniques”, then mentions several things he considers “bad” (but not in enough detail). And why not mention them, in detail, with explanations of how to avoid them, if what he’s supposedly seeking to do is to help people do exactly that?

Let’s examine the author’s list of “bad SEO techniques”:

1. “Creating extra pages in your website”

So, apparently, one should never add content to one’s website, because that’s “bad”? This defies reason – why create a website in the first place, if not to add content?

2. “Stuffing your site with links”

The author of the blog should perhaps explain or quantify what he means by “stuffing”. In fact, Google’s own guidelines tell us to “Keep the links on a given page to a reasonable number (fewer than 100).” So, if one has a 100-page site, with, say, 50 links per page, Google can handle those 5,000 links just fine. One only need look at such sites as wikipedia.org and about.com – both simply full to the gills with links, and both of which do very well in Google – to understand why including this as a “bad technique” is irrational.

3. “Hidden links or hidden keywords”

This is ambiguous, because the author fails to define the term “hidden”. It could mean links and keywords placed out of sight, or with identical foreground, background, and text coloration so the content can’t be viewed; or to using stylesheet settings to hide the content; or to something completely different. There’s simply no way to tell what it is the author considers “bad” here.

All of the author’s points are made in very broad statements. One should be wary of generalizations such as these; if an author gives no concrete examples and does not adequately define his terms, such statements simply lack credibility.

Third, the author provides no proof of what he says – no links to an expert source to back up what he says, for example – nor does he provide any other sort of credentials that would qualify him as an expert. Were the author someone such as, say, Matt Cutts (a well-known Google Search Engineer), then his statements would have more independent veracity – but apparently, he’s just this guy, shooting off his mouth. Why should we believe him – especially after looking at what Google’s own guidelines say?

Unfortunately, there are a lot of rumors about Google and how to do well in it floating around in the blogosphere, and most originate from posts like the one from which the above quotes were taken. The source seems authoritative and confident, and the content sounds reasonable at first blush – but when there are no credentials provided for the author, and no evidence of the truth of the content, be wary. Do more research.

Now, don’t think that I’m trying to give the quoted blog’s author a hard time; I’m not. He may very well honestly wish to educate people about his understanding of how Google works, and that’s laudable. But the ambiguity of his statements, combined with a lack of evidence (not to mention the fact that some of the statements are simply incorrect), simply raises more questions than it answers, and his blog entry ends up leaving people worse off than when they started.

Unfortunately, there are many similar examples of such poor advice, readily available with a simple search on “search engine optimization”. One can avoid such problematic information by looking for blogs and articles that provide specific examples, the author’s credentials, and some source information that backs up the accuracy and authenticity of the information provided. If these items are not provided, simply move on to the next article.

One of the proven and effective ways to make your SEO web development service reliable and efficient is through link building. This is a method that is widely used around Cyberspace, just like lead generating. Link building simply means diverting traffic from various website to your own site. You can do this by having your link to other website. The more inbound links connected to your site, the more traffic that your website gets.

Having a good number of inbound links is not the primary consideration in a good website development scheme - you also have to be linked to good websites. It simply means that the inbound links you have should be placed in high-traffic websites, and websites that are related to the nature of your own site.

Inbound links can be gained from many sources around the Internet. Some of these cost effective, low cost ways one can use in getting inbound like are article writing, forum and blog writing, social networking, web directories, and bookmarking.

Writing informative articles and then submitting them to various article websites is a very good way of getting links to your site. Be sure though that you put your link to the article. Most article submission websites are open to accepting articles of all sorts of topics. What’s more these article submission websites generate a lot of traffic, so you can be sure you will get enough traffic as long as you provide them with interesting and unique articles.

Another good way to build links to your website is through writing in blogs and Internet discussion forums. You can join Internet discussion forums and post in the various topics related to your website. Leave posts as well as link to the website so you can entice forum readers to visit your website.

On the other hand social networking sites have also gained ground in terms of enhancing SEO services of websites. Just create your profile on a social networking site, then look for and add friends. When your friends read your profile they will likely hit your link, helping improve the traffic to your website.

Also another effective and proven way to help your website get inbound links and consequently more Internet traffic is bookmarking. In social bookmarking, you can share bookmarks with other users who are interested in the nature or theme of your website. Go to a web-based bookmarking website and submit your website’s URL, so that users will find your website easily.

Competition in the Internet has become that tough that most website without a good SEO web development will not have a chance compared to those websites that are SEO-friendly and have using efficient website development techniques. Websites that are not geared with SEO are more likely to be left out of various search engine sites, which could affect their traffic and popularity not like those lead generating websites along with the other types of websites in the Internet today.

One of the things one has to consider in making a website SEO-friendly is choosing a domain name. The domain name should be SEO friendly and brandable so that it can be easy to remember by user and indexed in search engines.

Domain names should be short. Having a lenghty domain name is disadvantageous because users will not likely remember them. Having an easy-to-remember domain name, on the other hand, makes it easy for users to visit them, even if they don’t search them in search engines. The domain name should also be simple so that the user can easily remember it.

The domain name should also have a word that generally gives a summary on what your website is all about. You need to have keywords to put emphasis on your website, but don’t use a lot of keywords since it can be confusing. At least two keywords should be enough. Having a longer keyword also extends your email address.

If you are using more than one keyword, you can use a hyphen to separate the keywords. Although many would say it can be confusing to make use of hyphens for your domain names, there are ways you can fix this dilemma. First do not use hyphens during online advertising or registering your website with search engines. Also make use of a domain name that does not have a hyphen for users who prefer typing keywords in searching through search engines.

Another important factor in SEO is linking your website to other websites. You need to have a good anchor text that is interesting for Internet users, so that they will be attracted to visit your link while surfing other websites. The keyword or phrase you use in other websites is called the anchor text, and this would help you gather more traffic to your website.

You can also register a few alternates for your site while paying for just a single domain name. You should also not put numbers in your website’s domain name.

These are just some of the ways to generate more traffic to your website.

Article submission is a good way for you in improving the traffic of your website, in getting sufficient links back to your website, as well as in lead generating. There are many article categories found in the Internet that accept various articles for a wide range of categories. However you need to choose a category directly related to your website’s content. This is a proven way of inviting visitors to your website, as one of the methods for good SEO web development for your website.

However you need to realize that there are many articles that are submitted daily to popular directories and article sites. Thus only a handful articles will actually get published and get a good amount of traffic to the websites. So you have to make sure that you provide only unique and interesting information to the readers.

Before you send out articles to these websites, be sure that you check a few things. For instance, make sure that the reader will actually be interested in reading your article. At times having a readable and interesting article is not enough, you also have to make certain that the article will encourage the reader to take positive action. The article must influence the attitude and behavior of the reader.

Another point that you have to take is that the article should have enough length- not too short and not too long. If it is too long the reader would actually be disinterested to continue reading. If the article is too short then it would not have enough information for the reader.

The article should also be related to the keywords of the website. This is important since it allows your website to rank highly on various web engines. For example if your website deals with cellular phones, the article should have the word “cellular phone” in its heading.

There are other guidelines you have to follow in order to get traffic to your website. First you can save a lot of time if you get back links to your site instead of opting for link exchanging and submission of directories. Also there are a lot of PR website and article submission sites that allow their users to subscribe to certain categories which are related to the nature of their websites through RSS feeds.

Once a website subscribes to RSS fee on the category where your article falls under, expect to your back link and article to be displayed on the website where you submitted to. Try this practice one and not only would you be able to make your website development more efficient, you would see that your website would be able to rake in all the profits.

In SEO web development, Internet domain names which potentially carry non-ASCII characters are referred to as internationalized domain names. These domain names carry letters with diacritic required by non-English languages, as well as characters from non-Latin text like Hindi, Chinese, and Arabic. They have many purposes, some of which would be in developing good websites and efficient lead generating

But standard for domain names prohibits such characters, although in recent years a lot of work has been made to internationalize domain names and have them in standard ASCII format to maintain the domain name system’s stability.

IDN was originally proposed in the mid-90s before its implementation in 1998. Finally, a system referred to as Internationalizing Domain Name in Applications or IDNA was chosen as the standard, eventually rolled out in a handful of top level domains.

The phrase internationalized domain name refers specifically to a domain name that consists of labels for which successful application of the IDNA ToASCII can be made. By March 2008 updating of the current IDNA protocol commenced with the formation of another IDN Working Group.

Conversion from ASCII to non-ASCII forms can be accomplished through algorithms called ToUnicode and ToASCII. The said algorithm are applied to individual labels instead to domain names as a whole. Thus, if a certain domain name is www.website.com, the labels would be www, website, and com. In the same way, ToASCII and ToUnicode will be applied to each labels separately.

The particulars of the algorithms are complex, and they are identified in the RFCs that are indicated at the conclusion of this article.

ToASCII makes any ASCII label unchanged, however it will not work if the label is not suited for DNS. ToASCII will also utilize the Nameprep algorithm if it is provided with a label that has at least a non-ASCII character. It will then convert the result to ASCII by using the Punycode prior to ending the 4-character string tagged as “xn—“. Named the ACE prefix, this 4-character string distinguishes ordinary ASCCI labels from Punycode-encoded labels. The ToASCII algorithm wont work in several ways like having the last string exceeding the limit of 63 characters for DNS. Any label on which the ToASCII algorithm fails to work cannot be utilized in internationalized domain names that are used for website development.

By stripping off ACE prefix and then applying Punycode decode algorithm, ToUnicode overturns any action made by ToASCIII. It however does not overturn Nameprep processing because it is merely normalization, meaning that it is irreversible by nature. ToUnicode however is more likely to succeed unlike ToASCII.

Perhaps one of the most user friendly and powerful content management and website development tool anywhere in the Drupal. Drupal is an open source system and there is a considerable number of people that contribute to the development of this application, as well as in its theme development. What is more, Drupal can be used without any charges.

In case you want to put up a Drupal website and integrate it in your SEO web development project, you may follow the following steps.

First, you have to search for a reliable and inexpensive web hosting service. Drupal CMS-enabled websites run best on a Drupal-specialized webhost that can offer good hosting services. For those about to start a Drupal-enabled website you can shell out at least 7 dollars in a month. You may need however to upgrade your account to a dedicated server in case your site gains substantial traffic.

Do not worry however about the installation of Drupal. Installing a Drupal is never hard. You just need to visit their website, www.drupal.org, then download the installation scripts. After that you need to upload the scripts to your webhost directory. You can do this process through the Internet. Just type in the URL of the webhost directory where you uploaded your scripts , and then the system will consequentially guide you through the process of creating the website. You also have to make a database instance that will be utilized during the process of installation.

Moreover Drupal has become more popular that a lot of web hosting service companies have started to include installation scripts specified in their service package. This will help you in setting up your website with just a few clicks.

After this you will have to choose a website theme you think is appropriate, whether it is a lead generating website or any other kind of website. Website themes are used in deciding the overall look and feel of your website. Of course you would want to have a very attractive and engaging theme for your website. Those who are tech-savvy, meaning with working knowledge of CSS and Php, can make their own theme. You can also download themes from other open source contributions. Or you can put some personal touch on a previously built theme by downloading a free them and then making some adjustments to it, according to your preference. Just go to drupal.org/project/Themes/ and find a list of good looking and free website templates.

After completing these steps, you now have your won Drupal website which would help you succeed in your online business.
